Picture This with a Mojo Monday Twist

This week on Heart 2 Heart Challenges they are hosting a Picture Challenge.  Here is the picture for inspiration.
And here is my card:

I used the Roxy paper pack for the animal print background paper.  In the middle section I used Desert Sand Cardstock and lightly stamped the script words from Universal Backgrounds stamp set.  I cut the leaves and the little tags using the Cricut and the CTMH AP Cartridge.  I felt like I needed to add a splash of color, so I stamped the heart shape using Cranberry ink from the Love Life Stamp Set and cut it out.  I also used the Mojo Monday Sketch to make this card.  Here is the sketch:
I really had fun making this card today.  Thanks Heart 2 Heart Challenges for the Picture Inspiration and the Sketch from Mojo Monday.  Have a great day!

Snowy Bird Card

Today we woke up to about 2" of snow.  Luckily for my kids both of their schools cancelled classes today.  Unfortunately the rain has begun and the snow is melting quickly.  My daughter doesn't care though, she will play outside until she is soaked through.  Oh, to be a kid again.

Today's challenge on Heart to Heart Challenges blog is perfect for the feeling of melting snow.  It is a color challenge using Amethyst (light purple) and Crystal Blue (med. clear blue).  Here is my card:

I used A Tweet (A1104) stamp set for the bird and branches.  Then for the musical notes background I used Universal Background (D1477).  Inked it up in both Amethyst and Crystal blue before stamping on the white cardstock.  I matted the bird in both colors of cardstock and then adhered to the front using 3-D tape to raise it up.  The sentiment "A Note for you" is from the new stamp set that will be available next month.  Last I added both colors of Waxy Flax along the side.

Here is a close-up of the bird.
I inked the solid bird stamp using Chocolate ink by rolling it around the edges.  Then I used my Waterbrush to fill in the bird with Crystal Blue ink and Amethyst.  It is hard to get a good picture of it, I like how it looks like a watercolor painting.  Then I added a copper bitty brad for the eye.

Thanks for looking - and I hope that you enjoy your day!

Merry Christmas to All!

I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to all my followers.  I can not believe that I didn't even post anything in the month of November.  Yikes....
I'm all healed from my Gall Bladder surgery and I'm ready to get back to "normal".  Thanks for being patient with my absence.

Here are some Christmas greetings for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge to share our Holiday spirit!

These are a couple of Christmas cards we made at my clubs in November.  I just love the bright colors of the "Believe" paper pack.  This Santa is my favorite too, he is from the Believe WOTG kit.  I used the polka dot Alphabet on the pennants.

This card is one of the cards I made this year to send out to friends and family.  It is 12" x 5 1/2" then scored at 4 1/4" and 8 1/2" to make the "Z fold" shape.  The picture that is in this photo is actually a couple of years old, so I had to have a new one printed before I could send the cards out this year.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!

It's All in the Numbers

This week's challenge at H2H blog is all about the numbers.  The goal is to use numbers in your project.  Here is the link to Heart 2 Heart.  I made this card:
I also used the Mojo Monday sketch for the design of today's card.  Click Here to go to their blog.  Here is the sketch:
I used X7140B Roxie Paper Pack for my card.  I also used C1440 Take a Picture for the corner piece and the swirls.  I used the beautiful flower from D1470 Dreams Come True set.  I stamped it 3 times using the rock-n-roll method with Smoothie ink first then rolling the edges in Tulip ink before stamping onto the Colonial White paper.  I then cut it out into the three layers inked the edges using Desert Sand ink and stacked them back up using 3-d foam tape.  The sentiment "Happy Birthday!" and "you" came from D1475 Card Chatter-Birthday stamp set.  Finally the number 2 is from C1401 Friendship alpha small.

Be sure to check out what the other wonderful artists have done by checking out both blogs.
Have a great day!

It's a Sketch Challenge

Hi Friends
This week it has taken me all week to get the challenge up on my blog, so I apologize for the delay.  Here it is....
It is a sketch challenge!  Oh, how I love those.  I don't know why, but I usually can just whip out the card with ease when someone else tells me how it is suppose to look.  On to the challenge:
Here is my card:
I used the wonderful new Dreamin' paper pack X7142B. I just love those colors. The background piece is actually one full sheet then I put the blue leaf pattern over the top of that backing the two strips with some chocolate cardstock. Then for the horizontal line I used a piece of off-white twill ribbon and two Pacifica colored brads from the fanfare brads. For my center image I used a very old retired stamp set for the journaling frame which I stamped in a second generation Pacifica Blue so it would be a little bit lighter. Then I stamped the Birthday sentiment from D1475 Card Chatter - Birthday set. The flowers are from the D1306 Treasure Life stamp set. I really love that stamp set. I just matted that with chocolate cardstock and attached it using 3-D foam tape. Pretty simple, but a lovely card.  I made it for an upcoming birthday.  Is it yours?

Have a great week!

Sentiment-ally Yours!

Hi Stamping friends-
This week at Heart 2 Heart they are asking for you to make a project that has a sentiment stamped on it, but do not use any other stamping on the card.  I thought, oh this will be easy but I found it hard to not want to stamp an additional image on the card.

I pulled out the new Cricut and the CTMH cartridge to help me with this one.

My Sentiment is from D1492 Christmas Love. I cut off the star image that was connected to the words.  I used the CTMH AP Cricut cartridge to cut out the plaque that the sentiment is on and the three different sized trees.  The trees are in two layers, the bottom solid layer is using Sky Blue and the top cut-out layer is using Sweet Leaf Green.   The sparkles on the trees are made with Z1313 Stardust glitz glitter gel. I used the Believe paper pack for the background papers.  I added the wide Grosgrain ribbon in white and a cute little bow too.   I also added Z1263 Bitty Sparkles to dot the "i's" in the sentiment.

Be sure to check out what other have done with this challenge at their blog.  Have a great week!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Cardstock Only!

This week at the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog the challenge is....
We want to see what you can do with cardstock only - no patterned paper! In addition, we want you to use at least 3 different colors of cardstock! Oh yeah, time to put your thinking caps on! Click here to see what the DT came up with:

For my card I used Crystal Blue, Pacifica, and Goldrush cardstock.  I also used Colonial White cardstock to stamp my images and then cut them out.  It was hard to get a good picture to show the true colors...

The stamp sets I used are C1456 Heartfelt Treasures for the flowers, D1361 Thank You for the sentiment, C1450 Electic Edges for the border trim, and D1335 Intrinsic Backgrounds for the small leaves and the diamond weave images.  I added pearls to the centers of all the flowers.  The large flower is cut out and layered using 3-D foam tape.

I hope you enjoy this card, I had a great time making it.
Now lets see what you have created!

Die Cuts Challenge

This week at Heart 2 Heart Challenges Blog in honor of CTMH's new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge the challenge is Die Cuts.  If you aren't lucky enough to have the new Cricut Cartridge made exclusively for CTMH any Die Cut you have will do the trick.  Or if you got to have it (and you will) you can order it here - at my website.

I was able to make this card with the new AP cartridge thanks to my friend Laura that let me borrow hers.  She is so nice!

I used the Shaped card at 4" square, then I cut out the cute tag with the cut out hearts.  I also cut out the ticket and then stamped on it with the wonderful new Blue Ribbon C1464 stamp set.  I also cut out the small bracket too.  The corregated star is from the new Milepost Shapes Z1464, I inked it in Vineyard Berry ink.  The paper pack is the new Typeset X7139B.  I wanted a card to match my previously posted backpack box.

Back To School Challenge

Can you believe that it is already time for Back To School?  Here in Gresham our summer weather just began about 3 weeks ago.  We are hoping the warm dry weather will continue into fall around here.

Anyway, this weeks challenge from Heart 2 Heart is anything related to Back to School.  Again I have the privilege of being a guest designer this week and I have created this cute little Backpack Box.

I made one of these a couple of years ago as a present for my daughter's teacher.  They are so cute and fun to make.  You can fill it with Chocolate candy - who doesn't need a little chocolate to make it through the day?  I was excited to make this using the new CTMH Typeset papers (X7139B).  I found the original template created by Mary Arima at Split Coast Stampers.  Click Here for the template.

I also used some chocolate grosgrain ribbon and two wooden buttons.  I used some velcro for the closures, but if you have the small magnetic closures that would work even better.  To give the Juniper Cardstock some texture, I stamped the linen background stamp from CTMH's D1477 Universal Backgrounds stamp set.  I used Juniper ink and dabbed on some Chocolate ink to the stamp before stamping onto the paper.

If you have time between shopping for school clothes, supplies, and getting that last minute vacation in join us for the challenge.  Be sure to post your artwork, so I can see what you have created!

Hot Hot Hot

This week the challenge at Heart 2 Heart is Hot!  Anything that reminds you of the hot hot hot of summer.  I'm thrilled that they picked me to be a guest designer this week and I had fun creating my brightly colored card with the cute crabs singing Hot, Hot, Hot!
For the background I used the backside of the Fanfare paper pack stripe that is in Sunny Yellow.  Then I used a strip of black cardstock and my corner rounder to make a scalloped edge.  I stamped the cute crab from the Down By the Sea C1451 stamp set using Pear Ink, Cotton Candy ink, and Sunset Ink.  I mounted them on the same color cardstock and popped them up with 3-d foam tape.  I added the bracket image on the yellow background by stamping with Yellow Ink on top of the background paper.  Then just to make it even hotter I added Bitty Sparkles Z1263 to the scalloped cardstock and a little Stardust Glitter Gel Z1313 to each crab belly and Liquid Glass Z679 to the eyes to make them glossy.
Be sure to post your Hot creation on the Heart 2 Heart Challenges Blog so I can see your wonderful artwork.  Enjoy the rest of your summer!
