Heart 2 Heart Sketch Challenge

This weeks challenge at Heart 2 Heart is a sketch challenge.  I just love those.  This one I really enjoyed working with.  Here is the sketch:
Here is the card that I made.  It is a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Birthday card.

I used the Miracle paper pack X7133B.  I'm so glad that CTMH decided to make a whole paper pack out of these colors.  I just love them, they are Bamboo, Crystal Blue, Heavenly Blue and Sweet Leaf.  I also used Desert Sand ink for my distressing.  I used the Miracle Chipboard Irressitibles Z1354 and the Kraft Color-ready Borders Z1377.  Those are my favorite new item from the upcoming catalog.  They are so easy to use and they are self-adhesive.  The happy birthday is from a retired stamp set called Birthday Scripts.
Thanks for looking and be sure to enter your artwork if you decide to play along.  Here is the blog.  Go see what the design team made.
Have a great week!

Time to go Wild!

The heart 2 heart challenge this week is Go Wild!  Use wildlife in your project.  click here to see what the design team and other players have come with.  Here is my card:
I used CTMH stamp set C1362 You're a Hoot for the owl and branch images.  C1323 Whooo loves you for the sentiment.  The paper is a retired CTMH paper pack called X7112B Animal Cookies.  I added the Z1377 Kraft Color-Ready Borders from the new catalog and a wooden button Z1387 also from the new catalog.  I stamped the owl in Desert Sand ink and then stamped the branch in Topiary ink.  I colored in the beak with sunflower yellow marker and the flower shaped eyes with Dutch Blue marker.  Then added two red mini-brads for the centers of the eyes.  All the background papers are ink distressed with desert sand ink.  The heart is a chipboard piece that I colored with Tulip ink.
Enjoy this weeks challenge - get wild!

Baby Boy Onesie Card

This is the cutest card if I do say so myself.  Thank you to Jennifer for the easy to follow instructions on how to make these adorable onesie cards.   I didn't see the instructions on her blog, but I'm going to ask her if I can post them on my blog.  I will as soon as I have her permission.   Click Here to get to her blog, she has a lot of fun things to look at.

I have a friend that is going to have a baby boy - matter of fact her due date is today!  Good Luck Marcia, I'm thinking of you today.  Here is the card:
I used a white cardstock base that is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" with the fold on top.  I used dutch blue cardstock for the blue.  The puppy face is from and the words are both retired CTMH sets.  The little buttons on the bottom are from D1308 All Decked out.  I popped up the puppy face and added a sparkle for a little dog tag.
Here is the inside of the card:

Craft Room Organization

For this weeks Heart 2 Heart Challenge, they are asking for pictures of our craft rooms and how we organize them.  I have to admit that I'm very lucky, because I have taken over our whole downstairs family room area for my craft room.  I just received a cabinet for my Christmas present this year and let me tell you I LOVE IT!  I bought it on Craigs list.  There are a lot of entertainment units for sale now that everyone (except for us) has a flat screen TV.  It works perfect to store all my goodies in.  Here is a tour.

This is a view of most of the room.  I have two folding tables from costco that I can get 8 - 12 people around depending on how I set them up.  My husband cut out 14x16 pieces of hardboard and then I put kids craft foam on top of that with scratch paper to make a perfect stamping surface.

Here is my three-piece entertainment cabinet that I got for Christmas off of Craigs List.  I love it because I can just close that center piece and all my "stuff" is hidden.  I'll have to tell you it took me over two weeks to get everything organized in there.

Here it is opened up.  Man does it hold a lot of stuff.  My husband didn't think that it would all fit in there but it did.  Well most of it anyway.  We had an old shelf from his bachelor days that fit perfect in the center.  It has a hole cut out of the back from the previous owners, but I just covered it with fabric.  You can't even tell.

Here is my paper rack that I made out of the wire grid cubes from Target.  It is several sets put together.  I used zip ties to add all the shelves.  Looking at the picture reminds me that I need to cut those extra tabs off.  I also have a small rolling rack that holds misc. items next to the paper.

This is my problem area, still a work in progress for organization.  It is kind of my catch-all.  Not really sure how to handle the embellishments.  Usually the black board is filled with samples, but I'm waiting for my swap for the new catalog to come.  It should be here soon......Yipeee!

This is the ledge that runs around three sides of the room.  Great for displaying items.  I have a wonderful customer (who is also a consultant) that gives me gifts all the time this is her little corner.  Thanks Tracy!

This is the area were we put the food and drinks for workshops and my 3 monthly stamp clubs.

This is my daughter's area.  I love that she likes to stamp with me, but I prefer for her to use her own supplies for most things.  The boxes holding the papers are old USPS shipping boxes.  I saw on the CTMH bulletin board a long time ago that someone used those.  They fit perfectly.  Oh, the Tombow is not hers I just buy it by the case to get a great price on it.

Well that is pretty much it.  Of course I'm not showing you all my messy areas and no one is allowed in the room that is off to the side.  That door stays shut and it is my goal to get that organized sometime in 2011. (oh, sure I've been saying that for years now)
I would also love to paint the walls a color instead of white, but I can't decide what color to paint.  If you have any suggestions, please leave me a comment!

Color Challenge at Heart2Heart

This week Heart2Heart is having a color challenge.  Here are the colors:
You may also add Sorbet if you want another color.  If you don't have these exact colors, find something close.  Here is my entry:

I used the back side of the Magnifique paper and Sky cardstock.  I used Pear cardstock.  The stamp set is one of my favorites it is called C1288 Playful Petals (unfortunately it has just recently retired)  but I love it.  I added Glitz Glitter Gel to the flower and a small paper flower in the center that I sponged some sky blue ink on and then stamped the circle in Pear.  It is held on with a Colonial White brad in the center (added glitter to that too).  The Happy Birthday sentiment is also an older set.

If you would like to see what others have come up with go check out the Heart 2 Heart blog by clicking Here.
Have a great day!

Snowman Thank You

Today I did the Split Coast Stamper's card sketch challenge (SC314).  It was perfect timing, I needed a Thank You card and this sketch was quick and easy.

Here is the sketch from http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/

Love You Card

Happy New Year!  I had a few minutes to play and thought I would share this card with you today.

The sketch is from Splitcoast Stampers website under weekly sketch challenges SC313.  I rotated the original sketch design.  You were to have the rectangle piece be cut out of the box.  So I stamped the outer heart shape and then cut around it by hand with scissor and then used my paper cutter to continue the shape into a rectangle.  The center of the heart shape I stamped and cut out separately and then used 3-d foam tape to make it pop up.
Supplies used are all from CTMH:  New Wings paper pack, Bohemian Alphabet stamp set, and A Love stamp set.  Colors are Sweet Leaf, Juniper, Vineyard Berry and Black.
I hope that everyone had a safe and happy new year!
